Using AUS-V™

PRODUCT INFORMATION: Using AUS-V™

AUS-V™ Aliphatic Urethane is a high quality, extremely durable, clear, two component, protective coating for epoxies such as E100™ Series Epoxies.

1. DESCRIPTION and USES:

AUS-V™ Aliphatic Urethane is a two component, premium grade, clear coating available in either a gloss or satin finish.

AUS-V™ protects epoxy coatings and reduces staining from materials such as oil, grease, food spills, UV radiation and many chemicals by producing a low maintenance, abrasion resistant, protective film.

Gloss is achieved using only the two parts (A and B). Satin is achieved by adding AUS-V™ AGG (third component sold separately). When applied as a satin finish, AUS-V™ will have a great resistance to abrasion and slip resistance compared to that of gloss. In addition, AUS- V™ satin will “hide” surface imperfections in epoxy coatings.

2. LIMITATIONS:

AUS-V™ must only be used on epoxies that have been placed and cured for less than 12 hours. If applied to uncured epoxies, shrinkage, whitening and product failure may occur. If the epoxy coating is more than 12 hours cured, it is recommended to perform a light sanding of the epoxy with a 150 to 220 grit screen or sanding pad followed by a light solvent (clean, non-oily) or alcohol wipe. AUS-V™ must be allowed to dry and cure completely before recoating, exposure to water or even light foot traffic.

AUS-V™ is a high quality coating and may require occasional maintenance and re-application to maintain premium performance.

3. CHEMICAL COMPOSITION:

AUS-V™ is a 75% solution of aliphatic polyurethane and is non- flammable.

4. APPLICABLE STANDARDS:

AUS-V™ complies with all applicable air quality management regulations restricting VOC content to less than 50 g/l.

5. PACKAGING:

AUS-V™ is available in one and five gallon kits.

6. COVERAGE:

500 to 550 sq. ft. per gallon.

7. SHELF LIFE:

When stored in temperature controlled areas, shelf life is six months for unopened containers. It is recommended to rotate stock as formula improvements may be made when technology becomes available.

8. CAUTIONS:

Avoid contact with eyes and skin. DO NOT TAKE INTERNALLY. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Read the MSDS before handling or use.

9. CHEMICAL and STAIN RESISTANCE:

Chemical and stain resistance may vary depending on the condition of the surface, surface preparation, method of application, surface texture and exposure time. See the Technical Data sheet for additional information.

10. SLIP RESISTANCE:

AUS-V™ gloss may require a non-slip way to meet applicable safety regulations. Satin exhibits exceptional slip resistance due to the Satin Agg additive.

For safety a sample area should be applied to ensure product suitability. The entire project should be inspected after completion to approve the adequacy of the wet and dry slip resistance.

11. APPLICATION EQUIPMENT:

Protective gear should be worn when using equipment and materials during preparation and installation.

A high quality, non-shedding, delinted, 3/8”, synthetic or lambs-wool type roller cover and paint tray is recommended for most applications of AUS- V™ to apply an even coating.

12. APPLICATION:

Cover surrounding areas and adjacent surfaces with masking to protect from over rolling, spillage and tracking. The entire work area should be roped off.

AUS-V™ must be properly mixed prior to application. Failure to mix properly may result in uneven curing, exposed areas and create discoloration throughout the finish which may result in product failure.

AUS-V™ must be applied thinly and evenly while maintaining a wet edge. AUS-V™ must not be over applied to allowed to puddle or collect in joints, resulting in a prolonged cure, whitening and foaming.

DO NOT pour the material directly onto the surface and attempt to spread. Instead, pour the mixed components into a paint tray. If the Satin Agg is added, agitate the solution with the roller each time additional material is needed.

AUS-V™ should be applied on a dry day when the surface and ambient temperatures are between 40° and 90° F and will not fall below 32° within the next 6 to 8 hours.

The surface to be coated must be dry and free of moisture, debris, dust, oil, etc. that will interfere with bonding and cure. Do not apply AUS-V™ on foggy or rainy days.

The second coat can be made once the first coat is dry to the touch. Ideal re-coat time is before 24 hours and no additional surface preparation to the first coat is required fi applied within this time frame.

AUS-V™ must be allowed to complete cure prior to taking heavy traffic. Refer to the Technical Data Sheet for cure schedule.

Sealed surfaces should be inspected to verify and approve the installation for safety including wet and dry slip resistance prior to opening to traffic.

13. PRODUCT AVAILABILITY:

AUS-V™ is marketed nationwide and internationally, directly to trained installers through strategically located authorized distributor and suppliers.

14. PRODUCT COST:

At an application rate of 500 to 550 sq. ft. per gallon, the material cost per coat is approximately $0.20 to $0.26 per sq. ft.

15. WARRANTY SUMMARY:
